Sisal Carpets

Posted in Tips & Trends

Not to long ago natural materials like Sisal and jute were used solely to make design statements in living rooms and as runners on stairs and hallways. Sisal and jute are also great for beach and country homes because they complement neutral interiors plus the dirt and sand people bring in is easily cleaned. But now more and more people are turning to sisal and jute carpets because for environmental reasons.

“It’s pretty helpful to be green with elegance” says interior designer Marie Borgos, “I have used sisal and jute rugs in situations where there was a heavy passage like in a corridor office, homes with pets and children running around. I also recommend sisal under dinning table because they are easy to clean with a simple vacuum and make a great statement.”

The natural flooring fibers are consider to be extremely eco-friendly, they are 100% biodegradable and recyclable.  Some producers, like the Natural Carpet Company use hemp, seagrass and Abaca along with sisal because these natural materials are strong and durable.
