Pamela Copeman’s Water Front Inspiration

Posted in Designers Gallery

Growing up, Pamela Copeman loved to be surrounded by fabrics and colors.  Design was something she was interested in all her life – her mother was an artist and Pamela joked that she would go to bed at night the walls would be different a color in the morning.  So it is no surprise that Pamela is still finding inspiration from what surrounds her. Inspiration can be found by “being aware of your surroundings,” said Pamela, adding that she often takes the time to expose herself to different things. “I am impressionable to things that are new.”

Recently we had the pleasure of chatting with Boston-based designer Pamela Copeman about her recent Cape Cod project that was featured in Southern New England Home Magazine. Hear what Copeman has to say about where she found inspiration for the project and working with Colony Rug.

We enjoyed reading about your recent project in Cape Cod.  What inspired you while working on this project?

For this project, I found inspiration from the beautiful surroundings. The home was located on the beach so I focused the design on the home’s beautiful views.  The house had lots of windows that looked out to the ocean.

Tell us more about the colors palette?

Instead of traditional nautical navy and whites, I used the view of the beach as part of the color story—sand tones with hints of blue-gray and raspberry to create warmth for the winter.  Subtle elements of the beach were added with the use of shimmering shell tiles on the foyer ceiling and opalescent seashell chandelier.

How was your experience with Colony Rug?

I have been working with Colony Rug for almost 20 years, so when I learned that the homeowners wanted carpeting in almost every room, I turned to Paige [Pieroni] for assistance.  Paige and I went room to room with fabric samples and color swatches pulling carpets to show to the homeowner. Together, we were grabbing carpets and looking at samples with the homeowner, it was like Paige and I were doing a dance in the showroom.

Paige’s knowledge of carpets is the best in Boston. Due to her quick thinking, we were able to select 14 carpets in just half a day.

The entire Colony Rug team was outstanding, from selecting carpet binding to installation, no detail was overlooked.  The Colony Rug staffs’ professionalism is equal to their huge collection of carpets.
