What Are Nylon Fibers?

Posted in What's New

Nylon is a synthetic fiber first discovered by DuPont (now Invista) chemists in 1938, but not used in carpet until much later.  Today Nylon is the most used fiber for carpet and can come in either filament or staple form. Carpets made with nylon fibers are clean-ability, dye-ability, stain and soil resistance, resistance to abrasion, ability to recover resiliency, moth proof, mildew proof, non-allergenic and color retention.

Nylon was initially manufacturing for commercial use, then producers continued improving the character of nylon fibers, making them more desirable and durable. Over time nylon has become the fiber of choice for high quality carpets and rugs.
