How Internet Has Changed the Way Designers Market Themselves

We came away from Surfaces 2011 not only with some great new design ideas, but also some helpful information about the design business itself. Last week we talked about how the Internet has changed our approach to design after attending a seminar with NYC designer Shawn Henderson, and we want to continue the conversation today with some marketing tips for designers.

With the widespread use of the Internet and social media, designers no longer depend upon shelter magazines for editorial coverage, and some design magazines are diminishing. However, the designer must engage in marketing tools such as:

  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Dynamic website
  • Social Media
  • Facebook

We know many of your are on the ball with managing your presence on each of these digital platforms, and we are also focusing on doing more online as well. We find that this is more convenient for our clients and that we can provide greater customer service this way, while also providing a way to build relationships.
