Pantone’s 2012 Color of the Year

Posted in What's New

The Pantone Color Institute has named Tangerine their pick  for 2012’s color of the year. If Pantone has its way, we are going to be seeing bright and cheery tangerine both in the home and on the runway. Last year Pantone named a bright pink called Honeysuckle as the color of 2011 and there is no doubt pink was a favorite of designers. Will Tangerine Tango be as popular as Honeysuckle – only time will tell.

Here is why Pantone choose tangerine as the color to watch in 2012:

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

You  may have thought we would have a hard time finding rugs in this citrus hue – but we didn’t! Here are some great rugs & carpet styles from Prestige Mills in orange/tangerine colorways.

What do you think about using tangerine in your home’s decor? Leave a comment and let us know.
