Celerie Kemble – It’s all Black and White

Posted in Designers Gallery, Featured

Celerie Kemble’s book Black and White (And A Bit In Between) features Kemble’s gorgeous interiors with a black and white color scheme. The book also shows the work of other acclaimed designers who have worked with this interesting color palette.  Kemble serves up her advice on adding pattern and texture to a room, selecting accessories and finding inspiration from nature. She also gives the readers tips on collecting black and white objects.

Ms. Kemble’s line for Merida was launched in conjunction with the book’s publishing. The line is comprised of 100% hand-woven abaca rug in a belted stripe pattern. The soft black, gray and beige coloration reflects the book’s theme.

Curious on how a black and white color palette plays out in real life? The interiors shown below were designed by Celerie Kemble for the Martha Stewart show. The strict color palette results in a dining and sitting area that is rich in textures and visual interest. Merida’s belted stripe pattern rug is featured in the room.

Natural fiber rugs from Merida are available at Colony Rug.
