Taking a Look at Taste – Artful Interiors & Design

Colony Rug is pleased to work closely with Taste – Artful Interiors & Design on many of their projects throughout Rhode Island and New England. The photos pictured below were featured in Rhode Island Monthly magazine’s 2012 home design issue. The home was a large Victorian that taste design updated to meet the needs of a young family. According to Taste Artful Interiors & Design:

A few years after they moved into the home, they came to taste and the architectural woodworkers at Frank Shatz and Company, with their kitchen wish list, including: homework stations for the children, maximizing the views of the backyard from the kitchen and dining areas, opening the kitchen into the dining room, reusing original elements from the house, and ensuring that the new spaces pay respect to the historical architecture of the home. After ninety days of construction, we were able to make each wish a reality.

Now the kitchen and dining spaces have plenty of room for the family to enjoy meals together, as well as work on projects and other tasks together, all in a space that meets the functional needs of any modern family while remaining true to the historic character of the home.

We just love this home that seems to balance historical restoration and family living so well.  Don’t you?
