Colony Rug Company goes to England! Part 1: Visiting the Job Site

Posted in Blog

The summer of 2012 was a milestone in the 100+ years of history for Colony Rug Company.  In the summer of 2011, Colony Rug Company was contacted by one of our long time design firms, Seldom Scene Interiors, to accompany them on an international job south of London.  Seldom Scene had been asked to complete an English manor estate.

Colony Rug traveled to London that summer in 2011 to site measure and template 20+ spaces in the home that had been under construction for the past two years.  The house itself, a sprawling Georgian redbrick stands at the heart of an 920-acre estate which includes a private chapel, walled and terraced gardens, swimming pool, estate yard with traditional and modern farm buildings, stables, office space, five estate cottages, farm land and an established shoot.  The two story Georgian brick house consists of many bedroom suites, all of which have unbelievable views of the countryside. There is a grand reception hall, a massive dining room, several areas for entertaining as well as a grand stone staircase and upper hall.  Below are some of the images of what we saw and the state of the some of the spaces.  We had to be extremely precise in our templating, since every space was having a custom woven carpet hand made to the exact specifications. Colony Rug left the site anxious to get started on this extraordinary home!
