Colony Rug Company Goes to England! Part 2: The Planning Phase

Posted in Blog, Installation

Having traveled to London the summer of 2011 to site measure and template 20+ spaces in the home, our installer Justin Johnson, made a return visit last February.  Justin needed to measure spaces that were finally finished with construction, as well as determine all necessary materials and tools needed in addition to evaluating the working conditions.  Once back, we were able to combine our templates & scaled drawings and submit them to the manufacturer to start the custom weaving process.

One of our challenges was the logistics required is getting all of our supplies & tools to the job site.  Fortunately, Seldom Scene Interiors included us in their container that was being shipped to England.

Our biggest challenge was figuring out how to execute the designer’s selection for the grand staircase and upper hall.  Wendy Valliere had specified having a custom nail head made & we needed to figure out how to affix them to the carpet & border material and space them every 2 inches along the border!    Just when we thought that was it, Wendy also added that she wanted a “dragon’s tail” created at the foot of the staircase.  Let the games begin!
