Purging with a Purpose part III: Wool Flat weaves

Posted in Blog

The next step in our purging process was the wool flat weaves. It was particularly difficult to eliminate from this section because they are still a fairly new trend and they have so many great uses. One thing we love about flat weaves is that they can be casual or more formal, depending on what they are put with and the style of the space. We began by coordinating some classic patterns like this trellis and herringbone with traditional oriental rugs:

Another great use for flat weaves is as an alternative to natural sisal or jute. Many of them have similar textures and natural colorways. Wool flat weaves are much easier to maintain and clean than sisal and jute products making them safe for high traffic areas like family rooms and stairs!

Lastly, we have found that flat weaves can easily be layered over larger area rugs or wall to wall carpet. It is often hard to commit to bold patterns and colors in large rugs. Layering small area rugs or runners over more neutral carpet is a great way to add a pop of color to any space! They can easily be replaced when the decor of the space needs a change!

Much of what we eliminated in this section was basic textures that looked too much like commercial carpeting. We organized the samples by pattern: stripes and plaids, herringbones, transitional patterns, trellis patterns and basket weaves. We are continuing to make room in the showroom for new products we will be seeing at Surfaces in Las Vegas!
